Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEIA at Mines)

DEIA at Mines is located at 1710 Illinois Street.

DEIA at Mines supports Colorado School of Mines commitment to the inquiry and innovation essential to the engineering process, by fostering a diverse and inclusive campus environment where every student, faculty and staff member can succeed and thrive.

DEIA at Mines centers its work across three focus areas:

  • Culture of Inclusion – actions that reflect a commitment to creating an inclusive campus environment where members of the campus community feel a sense of belonging.
  • Shared Responsibility – learning opportunities that empower the campus community with tools and knowledge to actively engage in effective DEIA work.
  • Learning & Dialogue – connection opportunities that encourage complex conversations and deeper learning around DEIA topics to expand perspectives.

DEIA at Mines also oversees the Women in Science, Engineering & Mathematics (WISEM) program and supports programming and services that advance campus’ strategic initiatives for diversity, equity, inclusion and access. Programs and groups supported by WISEM include Wednesdays with WISEM, Women’s history month events, Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the Continuum.

Input for DEIA at Mines initiatives and sustained programs stems from institutional mission and strategy, student, staff, faculty, industry and evidenced-based practices. The impact of these efforts is reflected in a more diverse campus that mirrors our surrounding communities and supports an inclusive campus.
