Office of Women in Science, Engineering and Mathematics (WISEM)

2017-2018

The Women in Science, Engineering, and Mathematics (WISEM) Program office is located at 1710 Illinois Street.

The WISEM Program provides events and programs for all members of the Mines community in order to build a campus that provides a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff.

The mission of WISEM is to enhance opportunities for women in engineering and applied science careers; to increase recruitment, retention and graduation of female students; and to provide programming, training, and mentoring to Mines students, faculty and staff.

The office sponsors programs and services for the Mines community regarding gender and equity issues, and produces the Chevron Lecture Series, Women's History Month events, and the Continuum.  The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) falls under the WISEM umbrella, but is a student run organization.  The WISEM Director serves as an advisor to SWE.
